What is the minimum hardware configuration needed for eduPOP to run?

The required hardware configurations are:

CPU
: Pentium IV 1.0 Ghz or better
Memory
: Minimum 512 MB (1GB recommended)
Hard disk
: Minimum 5 GB free space
Internet connection
: Minimum 128KBps. (256 KBps and above recommended)

Which Browser should I use for eduPOP?

For Windows Users:
eduPOP content is best viewed using Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 and above. Mozilla Firefox 2.0 can be used except for Science Score content.

We recommend that you update your IE if you are using a version older than version 6.0. If your IE is not working properly with flash, downloading and installing the latest IE might solve the problem.

Please note that Internet Explorer (IE) 8 Beta is not supported.


For Mac Users:
EduPOP content can be viewed with Mozilla Firefox. (Kindly note that Science Score content has not been fully tested on Mac platform using Mozilla).

To download and install the latest IE:

  1. Click on the following link to download the latest Mozilla Firefox: Download Mozilla
  2. Once the webpage is loaded, click on “Other Systems and Languages”.
  3. Choose “English (British)” under “Language” and click on the respective “Download” under “Mac OS X”.
  4. Follow the instruction step by step to complete the download and installation.

What software do I need to view the content?

The follow plug-in is needed in order for the content to be displayed properly:

  1. Latest version of Flash Player (version 9 and above).

Content-based FAQs

The e-Learning content did not appear after I clicked on the respective e-Learning package.

There could be a few reasons why the content did not appear.

Possible scenario 1:
You are using a version of IE older than version 6.0.

To check which IE you are using,
  1. Click on “Help” on the toolbar and choose “About Internet Explorer”.
  2. Check your IE version under “version:xxxx”.
  3. Ensure you are using IE 6.0 and above.
  4. Update your IE to a new version via download IE if you are using a older version.

Possible scenario 2:
You do not have Flash Player installed or are using an older version of Flash Player.

Possible scenario 3:
You have enabled Pop-up blocker in your Internet explorer or Google/Yahoo toolbar or antivirus software.

A Pop-up blocker is a feature in web browser or anti-spam/antivirus software that limits or prevents the Pop-up from appearing. The Pop-up blocker can also block essential e-Learning/e-Assessment content that are Pop-up based.

How do I disable my Pop-up blocker?

Internet Explorer

To disable Pop-up blocking for Internet Explorer:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  3. Choose the Turn Off Pop-up Blocker option.

To allow selective pop-ups for the eduPOP and partners’ site:

  1. From the Internet Explorer tool-bar, select Tools > Internet Options > Privacy Tab > Settings button
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  3. Add the following into the Allowed sites:
    • For eduSCORE e-Assessment series: *.edupop.com.sg
    • For Litespeed e-Learning series: *.litespeed.com.sg and *.smartyisland.com
    • For HeyMath e-Learning series: *.heymath.com
    • For Science Score e-Learning series: *.sciencescore.com
  4. Select Add button > Close button.

Mozilla Firefox

To disable Pop-up blocking for Mozilla Firefox:
  1. Open the Options window in Firefox.
  2. Click on the Web Features icon.
  3. Uncheck the Block Popup Windows option.Click Apply and OK to close the options window.

To allow selective pop-ups for the eduPOP and partners’ site:

  1. From the Internet Explorer tool-bar, select Tools > Internet Options > Privacy Tab > Settings button
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  3. Add the following into the Allowed sites:
    • For eduSCORE e-Assessment series: *.edupop.com.sg
    • For Litespeed e-Learning series: *.litespeed.com.sg and *.smartyisland.com
    • For HeyMath e-Learning series: *.heymath.com
    • For Science Score e-Learning series: *.sciencescore.com
  4. Click OK.

Yahoo Toolbar

To disable Pop-up blocking for Yahoo Toolbar:
  1. Click on the Down arrow to bring up the Menu:
  2. Uncheck the entry Enable Pop-Up Blocker.

  1. Click on the Down arrow to the right of the text to bring up the Menu:

Norton Internet Security (NIS)

To disable Pop-up blocking for Norton's Internet Security/Firewall:
  1. Start NIS main window by going to Start > Norton Internet Security.
  2. For Norton Firewall:
    • Click on the Ad Blocking line.
    • Click on the Turn Off button.
    • Close the window.
  3. For Norton Internet Security:
    • Click on Norton Antispam.
    • Click on “Pop-up Blocking” and choose “Turn Off”.

McAfee Products

To disable Pop-up blocking for McAfee Internet Security:
  1. Open McAfee Internet Security.
  2. Point to McAfee Pop-Up Blocker.
  3. Deselect Enable Pop-up Blocker.

To disable Pop-up blocking for McAfee Personal Firewall:

  1. Right click on the McAfee icon in the taskbar.
  2. Click Personal Firewall.
  3. Click Disable.
  4. A dialog box appears. Click Yes.

To allow selective pop-ups for the eduPOP and partners’ site:

  1. Hold down the CTRL key while clicking the refresh button which will allow the popup to load.

Zone Alarm

To disable Pop-up blocking for Zone Alarm:
  1. Open the Zone Alarm program by clicking Start button and access the Zone Alarm folder under Programs.
  2. Click on Privacy.
  3. Turn off Cookie Control, Mobile Code and Pop Up control.

To disable Pop-up blocking for Opera:
  1. From the Tools menu, select the Preferences option.
  2. Select Windows option in the left-hand list in the window.
  3. Select Open all pop-ups option in the Pop-ups list.
